HumanitiesDC Seeks Multiple Positions

HumanitiesDC is seeking both a Director of Operations and a Director of Programs. More details about each position are below: 

 

DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS
Status: Full time - Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director
Salary: $80,000
Location: Based in Washington DC with a hybrid schedule. Currently remote. Telework (2-3 times/week) once office space is acquired.

POSITION SUMMARY 
The Director of Programs will lead HumanitiesDC’s program creation and implementation including its grantmaking, public programs, and programmatic partnerships in line with the organization’s mission, strategic goals, and planned growth. They will work closely with the Executive Director and other Directors to design and implement stellar long and short-term programming and projects that creatively increase all District residents’ ability to participate in the humanities. The Director of Programs is broadly responsible for cultivating relationships and partnerships that ensure that program goals and objectives are achieved and HumanitiesDC meets its duty in being a model and leader of the humanities locally and beyond. With the Executive Director, they will manage a team including the Grants Manager, DC Oral History Collaborative Manager, Program and Grants Coordinators, and programming-related consultants and fellows. 

Additional responsibilities include supporting the rest of the HumanitiesDC team and organizational needs, including but not limited to helping shape the organization’s culture, engaging in (and occasionally leading) cross-organizational projects and activities, building an external network of partners, and regularly participating in organizational events. 

This is a full-time exempt position that will be based primarily at the HumanitiesDC office. The position is a Monday through Friday schedule designed to allow for regularly working and/or attending weekend and evening activities.

POSITION SUMMARY 
The Director of Operations will lead HumanitiesDC’s operational responsibilities and duties including areas like finance, human resources, policies and procedures, and daily administrative tasks in line with the organization’s mission, strategic goals, and planned growth. They will work closely with the Executive Director, Board, and other Directors to design and implement long and short-term organizational strategies with a particular focus on building a stable internal structure for the rest of the organization to work from. They will supervise the external bookkeeper and co-supervise the Administrative Coordinator whose work will include daily financial tasks, budget management, audit preparation, and overall organizational support. Additionally, they will support the Board Executive and Finance committees responsible for engaging the Board of Directors in financial participation.

Additional responsibilities include supporting the rest of the HumanitiesDC team and organizational needs, including but not limited to helping shape the organization’s culture, engaging in (and occasionally leading) cross-organizational projects and activities, building an external network of partners, and regularly participating in organizational events. 

This is a full-time exempt position that will be based primarily at the HumanitiesDC office. The position requires a Monday through Friday schedule, with the ability to work and/or attend weekend and evening meetings.
