Careers and Internships

Our students make an impact through internships at Washington, D.C. area arts organizations by collectively contributing more than 60,000 hours supporting the arts while gaining valuable professional experience.

Where Can You Find an Internship?

Strategically placed at the core of both the graduate and undergraduate minor curriculum, required internships in professional settings are where our students begin applying and refining the skills they learn in the classroom.

Our students have worked in dynamic organizations ranging in size from the Smithsonian Institution and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, to independent community-focused arts organizations such as the Arlington Arts CenterDance Place, and Arena Stage.

George Mason University has also worked to cultivate partnerships with affiliates in the Washington, D.C., metro region and beyond, which provide our students with exclusive internship opportunities.
