Arts Management Production Internship OLLI Mason

Summer/Fall 2022 Options: course credit is available. Undergrads must work 150 hours and Graduate students 126 hours in Arts Management. Internship note: We ideally seek someone available to complete the internship from July – the end of October—this is flexible. (A total of 15 weeks like a normal semester). You could take the credit for Summer or Fall, depending on your schedule.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, a non-profit educational organization based at George Mason, seeks an arts management production intern for summer/fall 2022 to support the Executive Director, arts education programming production staff and volunteers. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities
• Support the Executive Director and Program Associate with designing multi-week music performance series at the Reston Community Center, Center Stage. Identify musical groups, recruit talent and design a diverse, enriching and entertaining series of musical performances. Duties will include communicating with artists, venue staff, stage management, editing, proofing and designing marketing materials and developing content for a curriculum catalog.
• Create and curate compelling social media content, including original graphics as well as finding interesting existing content to share.
• Help plan and execute marketing and outreach.
• Work with staff members during and between weekly virtual meetings to support catalog production and design communication materials to create interest in OLLI Mason and drive interest to events.
• Find and engage classical, semi-classical, and jazz musicians who will perform pro bono at the CenterStage of the Reston Recreation Center (RCC) in accordance with OLLI agreements with the RCC. Coordinate performance schedules and provide input to the RCC and OLLI catalogs, programs, and publicity describing the concerts. In accordance with RCC and OLLI deadlines.
 

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a graduate student or upperclassman in a related field (arts management, English, education, communication, film and video production) or the equivalent in experience, and be interested in pursuing 2 or 3 credit hours (between 5 and 10 hours per week). The candidate must be motivated, independent, and able to follow through on semester long projects. Strong organizational, writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills are a must. Proficiency with technology is important, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Zoom, and Microsoft Office suite skills. Familiarity with communications and video design skills strongly preferred. Curiosity, openness, and an interest in lifelong learning are important to being successful in this position.
