Arlington Cultural Affairs seeks Seasonal Assistant for Arlington Art Truck

Arlington Cultural Affairs is seeking a part-time seasonal assistant for the Arlington Art Truck (April through October). Hours will average approximately 6 hours a week. The candidate will meet the Arlington Art Truck at designated locations in Arlington and help with facilitating a uniquely designed interactive art project with the artist and staff. If you live in or near Arlington, VA, love art, interacting with the public and making positive change this could be the job for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the artist in loading/unloading the Truck of art supplies, information stands, and canopy tent, weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Inform and guide the public through an interactive art project, discussing a range of topics including the art making process, artists’ vision, and community partner’s services with the public.
  • Document onsite activations utilizing various social media platforms.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be experienced in engaging the community in a public setting, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and have a working knowledge of visual arts. All candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

  • Degree or current enrollment in arts program in Social Practice or Arts Management
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
