2023 Fringe Festival Venue Manager

Capital Fringe is seeking motivated individuals to serve as Fringe Festival Venue Managers for the 2023 Capital Fringe Festival.  The Venue Manager acts as the primary point of contact of Capital Fringe to the Fringe Run Venue contacts, artists, volunteers, and patrons of their particular venue.

Contract Term

Training one day (paid) June 26 – July 1. The date will be set no later than June 15. The position starts July 10 – 12 for tech rehearsals and theatre performance days are Thu – Sun only (July 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23) and finalizes during load out and strike July 31.

Compensation: Pay rate is $30 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the assigned venue contact person during the Festival to ensure proper use of the space
  • Oversee repertory performance schedule for multiple productions (each venue has no more than six productions, each doing five performances)
  • Assist and supervise Fringe artists during performances and technical rehearsals

Qualifications:

  • An appreciation and passion for the arts and artists is an asset
  • Knowledge of a theatre environment, stage management or technical theatre, is an asset
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work independently

2023 Fringe Festival Box Office Staff

Contract Term

Training one day (paid) June 26 – July 1. The date will be set no later than June 15. Available for shifts run July 13 – 23. Contract ends July 24, 2022.

Compensation: Pay rate is $25 per hour.

Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Be the first point of contact when customers enter the venue
  • Sell tickets for shows at the venue you are assigned to
  • Provide information to customers and Festival participants where appropriate

Qualifications:   

  • Relevant experience working in a box office, Front of House or similar role
  • Comfortable with, or willing to learn, technological tools such as printers and credit card swipers that are essential to the Capital Fringe Festival’s box office operations
  • Flexible working in different venue locations throughout the course of the Fringe Festival (all venues are located in Georgetown DC), often alone or with one fellow Fringe staff member
