Carolyn Hays, CFRE, is a seasoned nonprofit leader with a proven track record of securing significant philanthropic investments. With expertise, she excels in cultivating and stewarding major donor relationships, driving successful fundraising campaigns, and strategically planning for long-term organizational growth. 

Having dedicated nearly a decade to community hospital philanthropy with CHI Foundations of Texas in the Greater Houston area and UVA Community Health in Northern Virginia, Carolyn now serves as the Director of Development with Mason Arts at The Hylton Center for the Performing Arts. 

Returning to her roots in arts and culture fundraising, she kickstarted her career with renowned organizations such as Washington Performing Arts, Washington National Opera, and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Zoo. 

Hailing proudly from Wyoming, Carolyn earned her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Wyoming, followed by a Master of Arts Degree in Arts Administration from Florida State University. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive through CFRE International and a Certified Governance Trainer through BoardSource. Additionally, she serves as a lecturer in the Arts Leadership Department at the University of Houston. 

Outside of her professional life, Carolyn enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeff, two sons, Jefferson and Warner, and three West Highland White Terriers, Pig, Renegade, and Albert.
