The Phillips Collection seeks to fill three internship positions!

The Phillips Collection's internship program is open to full-time undergraduate students, full-time graduate students, and recent graduates. The purpose of the internship program is to offer students and recent graduates meaningful work, educational experiences, and real-life practice in their fields of academic study and/or interest.

Duration: Internships run eight to twelve continuous weeks and 12-26 hours per week. Internship length and schedule may vary depending on the needs of the department.

Available Internships:

Curatorial Intern

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with general curatorial and administration tasks including answering questions about the permanent collection and past, current and future exhibitions
  • Assisting in developing Center for Now programing, including Conversations with Artists series and Creative Voices DC.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Strong background in art history, especially contemporary art
  • Excellent oral and written/research skills

Human Resources Intern

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Assists with the management of employee programs: including temporary employee detail program and updating of the Anti-Harassment and Anti-Discrimination training program.
  • Aids in the development/configuration of an online Total Rewards program.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Onsite and virtual attendance 24 hours per week, required.
  • Background in human resources management, organizational development, or business education related fields

Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) Intern

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with research related to staff workshops and trainings, upcoming meetings and travel, and other institutional priorities. 
  • Producing internal communications, social media, newsletters, marketing, and administrative work.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Background in education, psychology, business, education, organizational development, communication, or related fields
  • Prior professional office work experience suggested
